I am back again with this second blog post and it's not going to be one of those blogs where I go right in and start promoting kitchenyuppies, oh no no I'm not gonna do that !
Instead, I'm just going to explain why home cooked food is way way healthier than if you buy it from outside.
Firstly, well obviously, is the fact that you can control the amount of oil, salt, sugar etc whatever ingredients you might want to add to your food, which, even though might not be as tasty as the dish made by hawker Uncle , is well, lower in cholesterol and msg and salt content etc...
Trust me, I have ate out all my life and I'm telling you ( not all ) but some dishes make you feel like you just ate a spoonful of salt ! I'm sure many of you have had similar experiences. And what about the oil? Some dishes look greasy with oil and you will be surprised that even though all of us know it's not healthy, still down with a can of iced coke !
Ever since I got married, I have been eating at home much more often and believe me, continue eating at home for a while and you will soon be able to taste the difference. You can't blame the food vendors because they are running a business and prepare food in a hurry and obviously do not put much thought into healthy meals.
You can still eat out for your fav char Kway Teow or Chilli crabs once in a while but mitigate the impact to your health by cooking at home more often and exercising !
The reason why I formed kitchenyuppies is to encourage more of you guys to cook at home through the provision of recipes for simple to cook, healthy dishes ( coming soon !) and of course, kitchen gadgets to make cooking so much easier and less of a hassle.
All of us are stressed and pressed for time in Singapore but don't add to the damage to your health in the form of food ! Google search simple healthy recipes, prepare & pre-pack the ingredients, and cook up a storm !
